About NorthStar Natural Medicine
NorthStar Natural Medicine is the naturopathic medical practice of Dr. Kristie Ferreira, ND, LAc, LEP located in Guilford, CT. Dr. Ferreira is a naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist who specializes in integrating Traditional Chinese Acupuncture with Naturopathic and Environmental Medicine. Dr. Ferreira received a Bachelor's Degree in Pre-Medicine from Saint Anselm College, a Masters Degree in Acupuncture from the University of Bridgeport Acupuncture Institute, and a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine. She was inspired to practice medicine after taking part in several trips to Haiti where she participated as an Emergency Medical Technician in medical clinics throughout Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas. Working with medical doctors, nurses and other volunteers she realized that her interests lied in helping others; particularly in helping people over come illness and achieving the greatest health possible. As a martial artist, yoga practitioner and outdoor enthusiast, she had a deep interest in natural ways of overcoming illness, building health and achieving optimal performance. So Dr. Ferreira took the natural path to wellness.
Dr. Ferreira is also owner of NorthStar Environmental Management LLC, a multidisciplinary environmental consulting firm. Her love of the environment and connection to nature have lead her to combined her knowledge of environmental toxicology with naturopathic medicine to develop a comprehensive way of treating patients with ailments related to chronic and acute toxic exposures, chemical sensitivities and environmental allergies. Included among the innovative and time proven methods of detoxification practiced by Dr. Ferreira are classical homeopathy, homeopathic drainage, hydrotherapy, heavy metal chelation therapies, medical nutritional therapy, and good old sweat producing exercise and sauna.
A few Words from Kristie
As a licensed acupuncturist and naturopathic physician, I merge Eastern and Western
healing traditions to offer you a comprehensive approach to natural medicine. I rely on
the wisdom of both ancient and modern healing disciplines to help rebuild health and
promote wellness. I believe that the body has an innate healing ability that flourishes
when we promote a healthy mind set, nurture spiritual and emotional well being,
consume healthy uncontaminated whole foods; exercise regularly and appropriately,
and when needed, utilize natural healing therapies to help bring us back in to balance.
Of course, as an emergency medical technician, I also know that there are times
when more aggressive medicine is needed and I am happy to work in an integrative
manner with other health care practitioners to ensure that you receive comprehensive
care. In addition to acupuncture and naturopathic therapies, I incorporate the most
modern of diagnostic testing to assess possible imbalances in the nervous, immune,
endocrine, and digestive systems, and utilize professional grade medicinal formulations
to help correct imbalances.
NorthStar Natural Medicine is a spirited and wholistic medical practice that incorporates
naturopathy, traditional Chinese acupuncture, nutritional therapy, botanical
medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine, hydrotherapy, counseling and whole body
detoxification programs. NorthStar Natural is located at the Shoreline Center for
Wholistic Health in Guilford, CT where a wide array of wellness practices and programs
are offered.
